AWAKEN THE DRAGON tells the story of how the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boating is transforming the lives of a group of individuals searching for life after cancer. It is a story beyond survival - a story of reclaiming life - a story of awakening the dragon within.
One and a half million Americans will hear the words "You Have Cancer" for the first time this year.
Thanks to advances in early detection and treatment, many will survive and join the ranks of over 10 million who are already considered survivors. However, the toll taken by both cancer and its treatment leaves many facing challenges beyond mere survival. AWAKEN THE DRAGON, a 90-minute documentary, is examining how one small group of cancer survivors is facing these challenges with the courage and ferocity of an immortal creature.
We are introduced to an unlikely crew who have found an unconventional path to wellness through the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boating. Through a stunning array of colors and sounds, nail-biting competition, and intimate revelations the film will take viewers on a journey of hope and healing.
