Desktop Documentaries | AnswerHi Jimmy. Let's go through your questions:
1-if i film all my own footage in my own home dont show any trademark logos or anything company related use no music nothing else made by another person but myself can i legally produce my documentary?Sounds like you're good to go! Curious what kind of documentary you are shooting all inside your home?
2- if i use my computer's windows movie maker to produce my movie do i have to mention that i used that software or will it be considered copyright? You don't need to mention that you used the Movie Maker software unless you just wanted to. It's a filmmaking tool, not footage. It would be like the manufacturer of a hammer or a saw trying to sue you for using their tools to make your home.
3- last, if its all my own 100% footage do i have to still have all these legal procedures? If you own all your footage, music, graphics, etc.. then you are good to go! Just make sure if you interview anyone on-camera you need to get a talent release.
Without knowing more about your documentary, it's hard to give more specific advice. I hope these answers have been helpful. Good luck!
