"In Bocca" is a special short documentary film about a filmmaker and a mechanic discovering their heritage and friendship through 20 extremely rare, and funky, cardboard cookbooks.
We shot it with a Sony A7rIII with an art lens, a 50 watt work lamp, and a lot of love.
Strange times call for strange actions. We’re all dealing with this new normal of social distancing, not working, & worrying about the future. Stuck inside we, like many, turned to food; a familiar comfort that gives us something to focus on, connects us, & even gives us the chance to help others in need.
We’re all spending more time in the kitchen.
Fortunately we had a few of these strange little cookbooks which look & behave more like spell-books. Inside these cardboard bound oddities you will find ancient languages, strange drawings, & unique flavors. Reading them is like taking a virtual trip to another land, even another time. Cooking from them is nothing less than an adventure.
Just two friends from Brooklyn.
This little film was shot by two best friends who aren’t chefs, but love good food & the power it has to transport you while bringing you together at the same time. The goal was to discover something new, bring some help to a country we love, & have a bit of fun doing something as everyday as eating a meal. The result is “In Bocca”.
What we want from you.
We want this film to go viral (the good kind of viral) so others stuck at home can take a little trip too. If possible we would love for those to donate what they can to help others. If they can’t spare anything consider just sharing this film & the message that goes with it.
Made with one organic ingredient: love.
“In Bocca” was made just for the passion of making film & good food. We’re just two friends who grew up in with our mom’s teaching us that good food is true love. If you want to know more about how, or why, we created this project, check out the crew page. Finally, everyone that helped out on it this project worked for free, & in no way is this film sponsored by anyone. We’re all in this together & together we will make it out ok. Like family.
Thank you.
