Posted: July 15, 2015 - As UK is out of election zone, India will go through Bihar state election in next few months (September/October 2015).
The idea of this documentary is to show the election style difference of UK and India. How one campaigns for election in UK as oppose to in India.
I come from Bihar from Bettiah (Champaran district) (the most backward place in India) and I will be travelling to India to help my dad fight an election. My father is one of the candidates who will stand in the election (if he gets the ticket). He will contest the election from Congress party from chanpatia vidhan sabha.
The documentary can be tailored to cover India’s caste and money dictation of voters OR for cameras to follow voters and big bold campaign during elections. How one needs to submit arms and vehicles to police during elections or it can show negatives and positives in mixed bag for the largest democracy in the world. Or it can show a journey of a man from UK (Indian origin) who is going back to India to help in election campaign.
I know Indian government can be very sensitive and I would like the documentary (if made) to be broadcasted after the election results. After all I don’t want the media body to jeopardise the relationship with any Indian authorities.
If the idea above clicks then I am happy to discuss this further and provide any further information to the research team.
