Interrupt the Pipeline documentary depicts the ongoing process of urban displacement due to gentrification. Because of this film, the need for an intentional curriculum became clear.
The film explores how this process effects education, linking inner city Chicago with Champaign-Urbana, where growing numbers of displaced inner-city families have moved.
Children, in increasing numbers, find themselves incarcerated and deprived of their right to a fair and equal education. SCOPE Project tracks the progress of the students and focuses on augmenting their skills in literacy and math, while training them to be the voices and mentors for other kids in their situation.
