This is a student documentary film directed by myself. It includes some of the obscure obsessions of my close friends. I wanted to get a feel for how passionate the subjects were for their obsessions.
Some interviewees are crazier than others, but I wanted to convey how important each obsession can be to each person.
Nearly everyone is obsessed with something, from obsessive coffee fanatics to obsessive collectors. I have no production company because as I have mentioned previously, this was a student documentary film. But the people who made it happen are classmates of mine – Produced by Michelle Duong, Camera Operator: Pádraig Muipéad Ó Conghaile, Sound Mixer: Carolina De Pasquale and Lighting and Editing was done by Emma Day.
The subjects you see (in order of appearance) Brian Grieco, Daire Ella Ni Bhraoin and Darragh Goggins.
We filmed on location in Dublin, Ireland in places such as Adamstown, Ballymun, Maryland and Kevin St./Aungier St. – to which our institute is located.
Lecturers thankfully admired the documentary, even though we came across many difficulties over the shooting period. It was a fun and exciting documentary to film.
My first pitch was based on the tumults of having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder MIXED with seriously obsessive collectors of favourite items. But lecturers reckoned that I should stick to the one topic and make the overall documentary more light-hearted.
Our time-frame was only 4-minutes anyway, so I changed the pitch and it worked out for the better. The editor and myself used a French singer named Ilona Mitrecey for the music. It was jolly and sweet and fitted in perfectly with timing and structure.
This documentary has not been submitted to any festivals or anywhere online but I would like for it to get some attention, whether it receives good or bad critical acclaim. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading!
