(Spencer, Indiana )
Here's a pitch for a reality series about the music & entertainment industry, with a twist. My family and I own a small recording studio and music venue in Spencer, Indiana. We have had hundreds of musicians play at our live events, including some "big" acts like the Wailers and Todd Snider.
We have weddings, 5K's, comedy nights, wine nights, open jams, festivals and shows here on a regular basis. We live in a small town and have some highly entertaining regulars.
I have organized several music festivals over the years and dealing with musicians, artists and thousands of hippies is no joke. Trying to keep a recording studio afloat in this day in age has to be one of the most stressful businesses out there. Running a business with your family? Someone give me a beer!
I believe someone needs to make a reality series about the music industry. The clients, the live shows and the stress it takes is something most people have NO clue about. I would like for someone to take the time to show the world what its all about. Not to mention the parties and the crazy people that end up here. Like the guy who passed out in his car with his foot on the gas pedel, or the gal who's dog had a seizure at 3:00 a.m. during one of our biggest festivals (yes I buried it at 3 am, not fun). We have had cows get lose, arguments with drunks and dance parties to with fire spinners, acrobats and go-go dancers.
Here's some personal information as well: my husband and I have 5 kids - Brady Bunch Style - yours, mine and ours. We also have chickens, cats, dogs and peacocks (yes, peacocks)and a huge garden.
I drive a VW bus to haul all the kids and my equipment.
My sister is married to a major league baseball pitcher and is the laziest person I have ever met.
My in-laws are typical Southern Indiana people. They go to church, go to the diner for 5am chats and serve the best fried chicken you have ever tasted.
I work part time for an alcoholic lawyer. I spend my "free" time as pto president and serve on a million other boards in the county.
My father is a musician and co-owner of the studio. He also lives on the property with my mother.
My mother was a horse trainer (the studio used to be her barn) and now she's a nurse who thinks she knows everything.
She hates the studio.
When we have a big festival and our small town gets invaded by a bunch of hippies, the folks around here talk about it for weeks.
