Chosun students training at Tong-Il Jeon Shrine -
TITLE: The Korea Connection - Taekwondo Training in the Land of the Morning Calm. We own and operate a very successful taekwondo school, the Chosun Taekwondo Academy in Warwick, NY. We are sponsoring our seventh training and cultural tour to South Korea this summer (2014) and bringing almost 30 very eager martial artists.
The head master of the school, Doug Cook is an award winning writer on the subject of taekwondo and is affiliated with Grandmaster Richard Chun, one of the five original masters who introduced taekwondo to the United States in the 1960s.
These factors have been instrumental in our gaining access to the top Korean Taekwondo masters; opportunities not usually available to most westerners.
Since the art of taekwondo is so physical and visually exciting, there would be a lot of interesting action in the film as well as a focus on the interaction of two very different cultures as seen through the eyes of this group of diverse American martial artists.
For these practitioners some of whom have made the journey before, this is a pilgrimage to the mecca and birthplace of the art they love and it will certainly change the way they view taekwondo forever!
