Here's my documentary idea:

This documentary will discuss the negative influences of the media on today’s youth.

The video will open with shots of great American leaders, inventors and important people in history.

While that is going on the introduction will be narrated under the video.

The introduction will include information of how these leaders became great, and how they had their hearts set on making a difference despite the obstacles.

After the introduction is established, I will cut to footage of how children are today, I will show video of how lazy, passive, and unimaginative they are. I will speak on how it is impossible to produce leaders that we had back then today how children are being raised today.

I'm one of the youth you're supposedly commenting on. I'm on the internet after watching some of my favourite documentaries, being inspired by what I see in the media-- inspired by people making documentaries that change the world. I'm looking through documentary pitches and suggestions to inspire myself, and to produce my own documentary. I'm 17 years old. I'm not lazy, or useless, or unimaginative, or brain dead-- I'm only seen like that because the people that call us that don't see past how things have changed to instead see how it has changed for the better. I'd suggest rerouting your idea to how the media has changed youth, not necessarily how it has changed us into useless wastes of space. Look at it like an observation drawing a conclusion, not a conclusion you've already drawn.

Thanks for your documentary idea. You're off to a great start with your description. However your title does not fully match the information you provided. Can you please share a bit more of your vision. What examples do you have that can illustrate how the media is influencing our youth to be "lazy, passive and unimaginative". Also, are you a youth yourself or part of the older generation. Which perspective are you telling this from? Thanks again for sharing!
