Question: The internet seems to be inundated with new independent filmmakers striving to make a breakthrough. What advise do you have for standing out in this intense online market?
Answer| Desktop Documentaries
The KEY to standing out is to determine exactly who your audience is. Period. Building relationships and engaging with those individuals who love your film as much as you do will be the key to standing out. Do NOT try to reach everyone on the planet. That is a recipe for failure. Find and connect fully with those who appreciate your vision for your film.
You can do this through social media, networking at live events, building up a strong email list, inviting people onto your film set, getting feedback and ideas from your audience, engaging with the "influencers" in your niche, etc etc.
